AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is a disease characterized by the destruction of the human immune system. An infectious disease caused by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1, HIV-2), a retrovirus that causes immune system failure and debilitation. HIV is spread through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person.
Bandaranaike Memorial Research Institute (BMARI) has launched a special program on treatments for HIV - AIDS. After undergoing diagnostic tests, treatments can be obtained by registering at Venereal Disease Unit (BMARI), Department of Ayurveda, Nawinna, Maharagama , Sri Lanka .
After identifying the HIV – AIDS patients who are registered at the BMARI, arrangements have already been made to treat them visiting their residences.
Treatments and Researches will be conducted according to medical etiquettes and proper supervision and higher degree of scientific approach.
