Department of Ayurveda was established in terms of the Ayurveda act No 31 of 1961, and its Research committee was established to register the Hospitals, Ayurveda manufactures, Stores, Dispensaries, Colleges, and Nursing personnel  and to duty fulfill the functions relating Ayurveda researches. Commissioner of Ayurveda function as the chairman of the committee and it consists of 9 members appointed by the commissioner of the ayurveda and by the Hon Minister.  

Functions: - The committee carries out researches relating to all section for the Department of Ayurveda

• Literary research

• Principles of Ayurveda

• Instruct the Hon Minister on conducting researches and Ayurveda drugs, Pharmacology and pharmacopeias.

• Assisting to maintain libraries museums, Drug laborotaries

• Matters relating to standers of Ayurveda drugs

• Collection of important information relating to researches and taking decisions

• Publication of Ayurveda manuscript, book, magazines
