| Centers to Promote Ayurvedic Treatment in Australia | ||||
Sri Lankan government has decided to introduce Sri Lankan Ayurveda and traditional systems of medicine to Australia. As a part of the awareness programme launched by the Ministry last year, special attention was paid to popularise Sri Lankan indigenous medicine in foreign countries where a sizable population of Sri Lankans reside. Accordingly the Ministry has explored the posibility of establishing authentic Traditional Sri Lankan Health Promoting Centres of excellance in Australia and to promote Sri Lankan Medical Practices in collaboration with universities, institutions and other related authorities in Australia. Cabinet approval was granted to set up three Ayurvedic Health Promoting Centres in Perth, Melbourne and Canberra under the supervision of Ministry of the Indigenous Medicine & for several other programmes to be initiated in Australia with the participation of Australian universities and sevaral other institutes. |

| Ayurdedic Hospitality Service For Elder Bikku | ||||
Department of Ayurveda has launched an Ayurvedic Hospitality Service for elder bikku called " Hela Veda Bikku Sathkara Sevava". The inauguration programme was was held on 15.05.2007 at Kibiela, Baddegama, Galle monastery under the patronage of Hon. Ministerof Indigenous Medicine Tissa Karalliyadda. Ayurvedic medical clinic for bikku & villagers, awareness programme on maintaining herbal gardens, providing equipment and funds for herbal cultivation were some of the activities organized by the department. |

| Circuit Bunglow and Lecture Hall - National Research Medicinal Garden at Haldumulla | ||||
A circuit bunglow and a lecture hall was declare opened at the National Research Medicinal Garden at Haldumulla by the Hon. Minister of Indigenous Medicine and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Tissa Karaliyadda at 3.00 p.m on 1st of June 2006. This was constructed with the aim of providing necessary facilities for local and foreign tourists comming here to observe the medicinal garden which consists of rare kinds of medicinal plants and for those who conduct research on medicinal plants. |
